The Vancouver Police Department, in partnership with BarWatch, Battered Women's Support Services (BWSS), Women Against Violence Against Women (WAVAW), and the BC Women's Hospital Sexual Assault Services are launching the "Don't Be That Guy" campaign. The posters, developed by the Sexual Assault Voices of Edmonton Committee (SAVE), aim to raise awareness about sexual assault. Focusing particularly on drug and alcohol facilitated sexual assault, these posters place the responsibility for sexual violence on the offender, where it belongs. They carry a hard-hitting message aimed at males between the ages of 18 and 25 - "Sex without consent is sexual assault".

Twenty groups signed a "Domestic Violence Accord" in Castlegar last week, outlining protocols for each agency in the event a woman should ask for help.
Leanna Kozak of Castlegar RCMP Victim Services and Kris Taks of the Castlegar and District Community Services Society spearheaded the accord, which they started talking about a year and a half ago within the Violence Against Women in Relationships committee.

The Ending Violence Association of BC wants to express our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of women who have been murdered across the province in recent months, including Chassidy Charlie who was murdered last week near Burns Lake. We also want to express our sympathy to the communities, including Chassidy's community of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation. We know how deeply impacted whole communities are by these horrific crimes. As you know, EVA BC is committed to honouring the direction given to us by our Aboriginal allies and speaking out about the extremely high levels of violence that Aboriginal women face, so we have been speaking to media in response to this most recent tragic loss.
